Still, for the money paid and in London, I didn't have higher expectations. Fortunately, my stuff was still in the room and things were straightened out quickly. So sometime before the last night of my stay, they changed the door look (which uses real keys) because they thought I had left and not returned the key. The staff was confused about the duration of the stay and somehow decided that I was only staying 2 nights instead of 5. I brought the matter to the attention of the guy at reception who promised me that he would send someone up to fix the problem. I mitigated that problem by taking a "Navy shower" and using the bath mat to trap the leakage, but that wasn't really optimal. Also, the phone booth-like shower was not properly caulked at the bottom, so water leaked out under the glass onto the floor. Those were, in fact, still in a box next to the sink, waiting to be installed. ![]() It looks newly refurbished to the point that there was no toilet paper holder, towel rack, cup holder, or any other accoutrement. The annex does not have an elevator so I had to literally lug my luggage to the 3rd floor (4th floor in American parlance), which was a bit of a chore. Mary's hospital, so you get sirens and any hour. ![]() And my room was also facing the street, so it was quite noisy - aside from the bus and truck traffic, the hotel is quite close to St. The downsides? My room was in the annex of the hotel, so it wasn't connected to the rest of the hotel but was entered directly from an unmarked door facing the street. The price wasn't bad either at an average of $76/night across my 5 night stay in a single room. The hotel is conveniently located enough - a block from Paddington Station (easy connections to Heathrow via the Express or Connect service) and half a block from the Paddington tube station.
